OVERVIEW

The Services Selection Board conducts the 5-Day SSB Interview procedure which includes Psychological Testing, Interview Testing and Group Testing to shortlist candidates that can be trained in various Defence Academies join the Indian Armed Forces as commissioned officers. There are various ways to earn a chance to give the SSB Interview. May it be just an intermediate student or a graduate and also to serving non-commissioned Defence Personnel. There are Written Entries as well as Direct Entries at each level having varying Educational and Specific qualifications. SSB is a test of your overall Personality i.e. how you speak, how you think and how you act in different scenarios in day to day life or specific scenarios created by Assessors. A methodological approach is a must requirement if you are aiming to crack this unique exam.

PROCEDURE

Once you have successfully cleared Step 1, you will receive a Call letter to report to any one of Selection Boards. At SSB center, you undergo following tests in order to ascertain your suitability and gauge your potential as an Officer. 1. STAGE I TESTING Officer Intelligence rating Test. Picture perception and Discussion Test. STAGE-I is a screening test. Those who qualify STAGE-I are eligible to undergo STAGE-II testing. STAGE-I disqualified candidates are routed back after announcement of results. 2. STAGE II TESTING All STAGE-I qualified candidates undergo following tests as part of STAGE-II testing during next four to five days. Psychological Tests are written tests that are conducted by a Psychologist. Group Tests are interactive indoor and outdoor activities which are a combination of mental and physical work. Interview involves a personal conversation with an Interviewing Officer. These tests will be explained to you in detail before they are conducted at the Selection Board.

MARKING SCHEME

When it comes to SSB Marking System. Each of the three assessors will assess from 300 marks i.e. Psychologist, GTO and Personal Interview. One has to score Minimum 90 from each assessor. The total marks of SSB is 900. It is further divided into 4 parts ( Psychology, GTO, Interview and conference round) i.e 900/4= 225 each test phase. Out of this 225, you need to get minimum 90 to get a “Yes” from either of the assessor and getting less than 90 results in “No”. During 3 days procedure after Screening of Psychological tests, GTO tasks and Personal interview assessor will rate your performance s. Therefore, the minimum you would be required to pass is 90*3= 270. For examples – 1) One candidate gets 80 in Interview round, 70 in GTO round and 75 in psychology. The total comes to 225. 2) Another candidate get a total of 250 out of minimum 270 required. So, now comes the importance of conference round. If your marks is more than 240, conference would decide whether you would be recommended or not.

Ticket Original (for freshers) 8. Identity Proof (Original along with 2 Photocopies) 9. Risk certificate duly signed by parent/guardian 10. Passport Size Colour Photographs (APPROX. 30 TO 40 with light-colored clothes and against a preferred white background) 11. Address Proof 12. Aadhar Card 13. NCC Certificate (Original along with 2 Photocopies) (If applicable) 14. NOC Certificate (If applicable) 15. Valid Commercial Pilots License, issued by DCGA (If applicable) 16. Any Co-curricular certificate
